All eligible applicants are invited to entrance examination.

The maximum points awarded for the entrance examination is 100 points.

The minimum score for a passed examination are determined by field of study:

  • technology, communications and transport 30/100;
  • social sciences, business and administration 30/100.

Entrance examinations abroad arranged in co-operation with FINNIPS-network


Centria UAS will arrange the entrance exam for 2014 abroad in cooperation with the other universities of applied sciences cooperating in the FINNIPS network (www.finnips.fi). 

Detailed information of the entrance examinations outside Finland (the exact locations, dates etc.) will be sent to all eligible applicants in the invitation letter.

Centria UAS will arrange entrance exams in countries listed below in 2014.

Also applicants living in the neighbouring countries can be invited to the entrance exams of the respective country (only those neighbouring countries which are mentioned in the brackets).

Entrance examination of Centria UAS in Cameroon

Centria University will arrange entrance examination also in Cameroon.

Only applicants whose place of residence is in Cameroon and who would be invited to the entrance examination by Centria UAS in any case, will be invited to entrance examination in Cameroon. 

Applicants who are invited to the entrance examination by some other University of Applied Sciences will not be invited to entrance examination to Cameroon by Centria UAS.


Information about entrance examinations

Degree Programme in Business Management

Centria UAS Business Management will arrange the entrance exam 2014 in co-operation with other business programmes co-operating in FINNIPS network.

The Business Management entrance exam consists of written part (essay, multiple-choice questions, mathematics/logic section) and group discussion. There is a compulsory English language part in the exam.

The entrance exam essay and multiple-choice questions will be based on pre-reading material which will be published on this website during the application period.

Applicants must study the material carefully before the entrance exam. It is not allowed to take the material to the actual exam, and the material is not available during the exam.

The ability to communicate fluently in English, both speaking and writing, is prerequisite for admission. All four parts have to be passed by the applicant for an eligible admission. Applicants scoring below the minimum points of any of the sections will fail the exam. Maximum points from the entrance exam are 100 points. Applicants scoring less than 30 points from the exam are not eligible for admission.

Degree Programme in Information Technology and Degree Programme  Industrial Management 

Centria UAS Industrial Management will arrange the entrance exam 2014 in co-operation with other technology programmes co-operating in FINNIPS network. 
Degree Programme in Information Technology or Degree Programme in Industrial Management do not have pretask, preliminary reading material or assignment.

The exam consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: Mathematics, logical deduction, physics or chemistry. From physics and chemistry, you can choose which questions you want to answer.
  • Part 2: English language test. Reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar, writing skills.

The lists given below for Part 1 are not complete or accurate. They only give some examples and idea which kind of questions can be included in the entrance exam. The level of questions is based on Finnish high school education. Integral notation is not used in questions and differentiation formulas are not required.

Many problems are applied in realistic environment; however some questions may be purely mathematical, physical or chemical. 



Examples of mathematical content: real numbers, numerical calculation, equations, system of equations, elementary functions, percentage, geometry, analytic geometry, basics of set theory, basics of probability. 



Examples of physics content: Force and motion, work and energy, heat and thermodynamics, properties of fluids, electric charges, resistance and simple resistor circuits, and geometrical optics.

  • A book to practice:

Principles of Physics, Halliday, Resnick and Walker, 9th edition (or older), Wiley 2011,

ISBN: 978-0-470-56158-4. 

Most other physics books used for advanced physics courses in secondary education are suitable.



Examples of chemical content: Structure of atoms, elements, simple inorganic and organic compounds. Stoichiometry, reactions, reaction equations. Properties of gases, liquids and mixtures. Solutions, concentration, strong acids and bases, pH and neutralization, oxidation and reduction.

A book to practice:

Chemistry: the Central Science, Brown, LeMay, Bursten. 12th edition (or older), Prentice Hall 2011, ISBN-10: 0321696727 / ISBN-13: 978-0321696724.

Most other chemistry books used for advanced chemistry courses in secondary education are suitable.
